Montagne Noire Gîte

in the South of France

Quartier Haut Gîte

Sleeps 2 / Pet welcome / €40 to €50 per night

Set on a quiet street, this traditional three-storey stone cottage dates from around 1820, and was renovated throughout in 2013 to create a practical, modern living space.

The front door opens into the living and dining room, which has a corner kitchen equipped with a gas cooker and fridge, a circular dining table and two armchairs. A good range of crockery, cutlery, glasses and utensils are provided. There is a woodburner to keep you warm at cooler times of the year.

Stairs lead to the spacious bedroom, which has a comfortable king size bed, chair and small desk, and a chest of drawers.

On the lower floor (which can also be accessed from the impasse behind the house) is a the shower room with electric heating, wash basin, toilet and big walk-in shower. There is also a separate storage area for bikes etc.

There is no outdoor space apart from the bench by the front door. There is almost no passing traffic, as the road is too narrow for modern cars.

The cottage has wifi internet. One pet is welcome. At cooler times of year we provide an initial supply of logs, and more are available to purchase.

Parking space is available nearby in the village square.

This is a very rural area, and if you want to see the sights of the area we recommend that you bring a car.

Our local town, Carcassonne, has all commerces - supermarkets, shops, banks etc. However, if you prefer to spend your time in and around the village, there are mobile shops which visit regularly, an épicerie at Mas Cabardés 5km away, and a good restaurant in the next village, Roquefere, 2km by road or riverside footpath.
